The Code Register
About
Published Updated
The Code Register is a reference site about NACE Rev. 2.1, the current version of the statistical classification of economic activities used in the European Union, and about the national variants that build on it, such as NAF 2025 in France, WZ 2025 in Germany and ATECO 2025 in Italy.
The site is organised in 20 clusters. The clusters cover the law behind the classification, the four levels of sections, divisions, groups and classes, the changes from NACE Rev. 2, the correspondence tables and explanatory notes, the method for principal and secondary activities, the national variants, the transition timetable, the registers where a code is confirmed, the relationship with the ISIC classification, and a glossary.
Every guide cites primary sources only: EUR-Lex, Eurostat, and national statistical institutes. No consultant pages, vendor pages or blog posts are used as sources. Each guide lists its own sources, and every guide carries the same notice: statistical classification only, with a direction to confirm a code with the institute or register that holds the record.
No author names are published on this site. The guides are written in one institutional voice, under the name The Code Register, and no individual is presented as an expert or practitioner.
This site carries no affiliate links and no advertising. It gives general information only. It does not determine any reader’s code and it does not give advice on any reader’s registration.
